Zenable - Engineering Lead2024-present

• Came aboard a startup as employee #1 to lead engineering of an LLM-driven code quality and security automation application, working closely with founder and contractor engineering.
• Recommended and led development of pivot away from GRC engineering and onto automating quality control for LLM generated code.

Olo - Engineering Manager2020-2024

Dispatch - real-time bidding, execution, and consumer delivery tracking of restaurant food orders w/ 3rd-parties

• Managed and grew a team of 4 engineers into a team of 9, hiring 7 and transitioning 2 to seed a new growth team.
• 6x scaled the platform through the CoVID pandemic from ~5M to ~30M deliveries/year with 99.999% uptime.
• Handled close to $1B in annual total delivery order value for 650 brands and 49,820 locations, using 54 DSPs.
• Onboarded delivery partners such as Grubhub, Lyft, and Favor, and migrated Uber from Postmates API to Uber API.
• Saved ~30k deliveries and recovered ~$2M annually in order refunds to end consumers by leading several innovative features around maximizing delivery availability, auto-recovering from driver cancellations, and automating refund conveyance for AI-detected poor delivery service experiences.

Engage; Guest Data Platform  - the world's largest aggregate data platform for restaurant guest interactions

• Stepped in to lead 1 team of 8 to become 3 of 4/4/5 by doing staff augmentation of 5 Olo engineers to scale out this post-acquisition guest data platform.
• Scaled guest data platform to support over 1B total restaurant orders, 250M guest profiles, and 200M unique users, handling ~2-5M orders and ~300k net new guest profiles daily.
• Led the migration and performance-oriented reindexing of our primary event store, comprising over 8.5B documents, from AWS OpenSearch 1.2 (ElasticSearch 7.10.2) to OS 2.13.
• Led the introduction of automated integration tests and test containers to our CI/CD pipeline, eliminating bad builds reaching production and enabling confident production deployments multiple times per day.
• Led the establishment of an incident management protocol with an on-call rotation, observability tuning and alerting guidance, logging standards, and documented runbooks in our service catalog.
• Onboarded and ramped a new peer EM to take over leading the team of 5.

TeleTracking - Application Architect2018-2020

Synapse IQ - operational and predictive analytics for healthcare networks

• Led 2 teams of 6 developers each in the build and launch of a cloud-based operational and predictive analytics platform.
• Deployed event-driven system to automate tenant registration and onboarding, reducing multi-tenant backend implementation time from ~5 person days to 1 person hour.
• Scaled analytics platform from 3 healthcare enterprises to more than 20 in 6 months while maintaining service with zero additional latency or cloud operations cost.
• Designed data science environment with secured access to de-identified, HIPAA-compliant PHI data for 5 data scientists, deploying into machine learning model training/hosting environment built on AWS EMR and Kubernetes.

• Ran 3 cross-disciplinary teams of 3-5 ICs to deliver 6 different products in the computer science and robotics education space.
• Implemented curricula with 3 international partners for deployments ranging from a single school to a government education ministry.

USC Robotics is a co-curricular program run by Upper St. Clair School District to offer competitive team and individual non-competitive robotics programming to students.  In our first year, we started 8 middle school teams with a combined 60 students, led 4 teams to top-ten placements at our regional competition and took 1 team to Pennsylvania states where they took 2nd in Core Values and tied for 11th in score (page 3).

Team RobotiX - Mentor, Programming Coach

Team RobotiX provides robotics and STEM education opportunities for middle and high-school aged children. Our core focus is to compete as several teams in the FTC, VRC, and VIQC robotics competitions.  We have been Western Pennsylvania State Champs in VIQC.  We also do community outreach to promote STEM education in our region by participating in events such as running a workshop at Carnegie Science Center's SciTech.

Rails Girls Pittsburgh - Mentor/Coach
